Introduction

The Volunteer Association of Zimbabwe (VAZ) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all members, volunteers, staff, and beneficiaries. This Code of Conduct outlines the expected behavior and standards for everyone associated with our organization.

By registering as a member, volunteering, or participating in any VAZ activities, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and our Terms of Service.

Our Core Values

  • Integrity: We maintain the highest standards of honesty and ethical behavior in all our activities.

  • Service: We are dedicated to serving our community with compassion and commitment.

Expected Behavior

All members and volunteers are expected to:

  • Treat everyone with respect, kindness, and professionalism
  • Communicate clearly, honestly, and constructively
  • Respect confidentiality and privacy of beneficiaries and fellow members
  • Arrive on time for scheduled activities and commitments
  • Follow all VAZ policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Report any concerns or incidents promptly to appropriate supervisors
  • Represent VAZ positively in the community and on social media
  • Use VAZ resources responsibly and for intended purposes only

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

  • Discrimination, harassment, or bullying of any kind
  • Physical, verbal, or emotional abuse
  • Sexual harassment or misconduct
  • Theft, fraud, or misuse of VAZ funds or resources
  • Breach of confidentiality or unauthorized disclosure of information
  • Working under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances
  • Engaging in activities that conflict with VAZ's mission and values
  • Misrepresentation of VAZ or unauthorized use of VAZ name/logo

Terms of Service

1. Membership

Membership in VAZ is subject to approval and payment of applicable fees. Members must maintain active status by fulfilling payment obligations and participation requirements.

2. Financial Obligations

Members are responsible for timely payment of membership fees, subscriptions, and any other charges. Failure to meet financial obligations may result in suspension or termination of membership.

3. Data Privacy

VAZ collects and processes personal information in accordance with applicable data protection laws. We are committed to protecting your privacy and will not share your information with third parties without consent, except as required by law.

4. Intellectual Property

All VAZ materials, including logos, documents, and content, are the property of VAZ. Unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution is prohibited.

5. Liability

While VAZ takes reasonable precautions to ensure safety, members and volunteers participate in activities at their own risk. VAZ is not liable for personal injury, property damage, or loss unless caused by gross negligence.

Enforcement & Consequences

Violations of this Code of Conduct will be taken seriously and may result in:

  • Verbal or written warning
  • Temporary suspension from activities
  • Permanent termination of membership
  • Legal action if warranted

VAZ reserves the right to determine appropriate consequences based on the severity and frequency of violations.

Reporting Concerns

If you witness or experience any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately:

All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated promptly. VAZ prohibits retaliation against anyone who reports concerns in good faith.

By registering for VAZ membership or participating in our activities, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct and Terms of Service.
